The Civilist × Vans Half Cab translated the atmosphere of Berlin’s winter nights into one of Vans’ most iconic skate silhouettes. Working closely with the Civilist team, my role was to bring their vision to life through colour, materials and considered product details.

The predominantly black design was inspired by dark Berlin streets, passing reflections and the city’s illuminated TV tower. We developed a custom jacquard nylon specifically for the project, paired with a dark blue foxing stripe referencing the winter sky. Hiking laces and a lace cinch introduced a subtle outdoor influence, while reflective details, including the customised Half Cab logo, echoed the fleeting lights of the city at night.

I also worked on the packaging, extending the concept beyond the footwear and creating a cohesive expression of Civilist’s Berlin identity.
