The Axel Cruysberghs signature project was developed in collaboration with Vans Pro Skate athlete Axel Cruysberghs, creating a shoe that reflected his appreciation for the outdoors while meeting the demands of modern skateboarding. The project began with a mood board assembled by Axel, filled with references to hiking equipment, technical outerwear and natural materials that became the foundation for the design direction.

Inspired by Axel’s admiration for a previous Vans Skate Sport model, we worked with the Product Design team to develop a new interpretation of the silhouette that felt true to his vision while introducing a fresh identity. I led the colour and material direction, selecting finishes and details that reinforced the outdoor-inspired concept, while also developing the graphics and packaging to create a cohesive product story.

The result was a signature collection that blended technical outdoor influences with Vans’ skate heritage, creating a product that reflected Axel’s personality both on and off the board.
