Project:

"Star Bullet" Sneaker Collaboration

Role:

Lead Designer

In an exhilarating resurgence of the early 2000s skate culture, I had the privilege of leading the design for the One Block Down x Vans “Star Bullet” collaboration. This project not only reinterprets the legendary “Rowley XLT” but also pays homage to its enduring impact on skateboarding and street fashion.

Our goal was to capture the spirit of the early 2000s while infusing the sneaker with modern sensibilities that resonate with today's audience. The challenge was to balance nostalgia with innovation—retaining the soul of the original design while enhancing its aesthetic appeal for contemporary skaters.

The design journey began with an in-depth analysis of the iconic “Rowley XLT,” understanding its historical significance and the features that made it a favorite among skaters.

The shoe features metallic studs and 3M accents that reflect the early 2000s style, complemented by the innovative One Block Down "Link" logo on the tongue.

The "Star Bullet" was available in three colorways—Chalk, Split, and Ink—each carefully selected to represent the tones prevalent in early 2000s skate culture, while appealing to the tastes of today’s fashion-forward audience.

This project was a thrilling opportunity to delve into the archives and bring a piece of skateboarding history back to life. It was a meticulous blend of respecting tradition and pushing boundaries, ensuring that every stitch and seam conveyed a story worth telling.
